The artistic teams behind CREATE PURPOSE haven’t been formed yet — they’re being selected right now, through our open call. Once the selection process is complete, this page will introduce the nine artists and the three international teams they form, together with their work and their residencies.
Who will be here
Nine artists — three from Germany, three from Greece, three from Romania — working across three disciplines: visual arts, music and composition, and theatre and scenic movement. They will be organised into three international teams, each bringing together one artist from every partner country.
What we’re looking for in them
We’re not looking for finished résumés or years of experience in participatory art. What matters most is curiosity, openness, and a genuine interest in creating collaborative artistic work with people from different backgrounds — especially young people.
Once selected, each artist commits to:
– a shared five-month online training programme with their international team, focused on co-creation methods and team-building
– designing and facilitating a three-week artistic residency together with a local group of young people aged 15–30
– co-creating a public artwork shaped as much by the participants’ voices as by their own artistic practice
– presenting the result at a public festival in their host city
– contributing to a shared methodology for international participatory art, meant to outlive the project itself
Applications are open now
If you’re an artist curious about international collaboration, and about what art can do when it’s made together with a community rather than for it — we’d love to hear from you.
Application deadline: 30 August 2026
